I have not received the posting to which yours is a reply. It would seem
that you have posted private mail to the list. I remember your ire when
somebody did this to you last year.

1. I met you when I came onto the list. From your comments then, and
subsequently on the list, I gained the impression that you were quite a
tough lady as you seemed prepared to dish it out to everyone else, to the
extent that some people appeared to be deeply hurt by your comments. One
person was made so angry that he threatened to sue you. In the
circumstances I thought, now I see wrongly, that a little light banter
would run like water off a duck's back.

2. It is not a very pleasant tactic to argue that I bully women and that
that is how British men behave. Most of the women I know are far too tough
to be bullied. It would be as wrong to argue that one example of
deviousness is enough to brand a whole sex.

3. As to my behavour on other lists, I queried the worth of much of the
theory that is imposed upon students in degree courses in the UK. I was
concerned that the theory had ousted knowledge of the history and
aesthetics of photography let alone its practical application, For my
pains I was accused of being a person who could have no knowledge of such
things, that is, a photographer.
You said that you could see no harm even if students' time was being
wasted.

4. I unsubscribed from the list concerned as the debate was circular,
incestuous and based upon doubtful premises . I do not think that such
discussion is appropriate to this list .

5. I am only replying to this as I think it better to work together.
Discussions of this kind get in the way of progress. I do not wish to be
'king' of the list, just to play a part in helping others make good
pictures. Just as others on the list have helped me to improve mine.

6. You mentioned reciprocity failure with cyanotypes. Could you tell us
how this phenomenon manifests itself ?
