Disposal of Ammonium Dichromate

I recently moved into a new home that is on a septic system. I use a
fair amount of ammonium dichromate in doing carbon printing and wondered
if anyone on the list could give me some advice regarding the best means
of disposing of the used dichromate. I have heard a variety of opinions
regarding whether or not to put it into the septic system or parcipitate
it out and take it to hazardous waste disposal. Any advice?
