I was sick last week and didn't check my emails. I came back today and were
amazed by the long and heated thread generated by my simple question in a PS
section of my posting. I feel bad and sorry about it.

My original intend was to see if anybody would really mind the use of just he
and his as pronouns for anyone or anybody. Well, I guess the real intend was
so that I wouldn't offend anybody in the future. I first learned English in
another country about 30 years ago. Later I read about using his/her and
him/her while attending university here (US). I wasn't sure whether it was
exegerated by some groups or whether people would actually mind, so since I
used some 'ones' and 'his/her' in my last message, I thought I would ask the
question. If anyone minded for whatever reason, then I wouldn't use it.

Some replied that they did, so I won't use it.

I wish it had been so simple though.

May I suggest that we end this thread? I am just suggesting though, not
telling anybody anything. I need to explain this because it seems like
anything could set up a fire.

love and peace,
David Soemarko
