Judy - scan a piece of graph paper into PhotoShop and put it on a
separate layer if you want to delete it later. PhotoShop 4 does have a
non-printing grid feature if you just need an alignment tool.

There is a Mac filter called PS lines that will draw lines on a PS
document - I think it is shareware.
