Hi:

I think it is premature to have to the list set up as a moderated list.
Alt-photo-processes are not contrevoursial. The behaviour of some of its
members is. I don't think we need a moderated list to prevent people from
saying nyah nayh and pooh pooh etc.

I would like the list membership to take a more active role in ensuring
its membership behaves. This really should not be a problem. If someone
is acting like a jerk email them privately and _politely_ tell them that
their behaviour is inappropriate. I think if someone was swamped with
messages asking them to quit being a jerk, they would quit.

I have started doing this myself.

On a technical basis I don't think the mailserv program that runs this
mailing list is capable of doing a moderated list.

On a personal basis - you would have to find someone to moderate it. I
would not be willing to do it. I simply can not spare any more time to
keep this list running. Moderating a list is a tremendous amount of work.

This conflict should die down soon. It provides an example of what can
happen when inappropriate behaviour is tolerated.

If people want this list to be moderated it would have to be moved to a
new site and find a new manager/moderator. if someone wants to do this I
would be willing to move the list. I don't think any one person "owns"
the list. It should be treated as a valuable resource and accorded the
same respect.
