Re: Strange Thing with Step Wedge

My original intend was not to duplicate the step wedge, but I thought since I
might eventually use the film for enlarged negative, I might as well study
its characteristic. If the strange problem happened to the step wedge, then
it might happen on my enlarged negative too.

Since I made more than 1 enlargement from the step wedge, I re-read the
densities of all of them and found that the anomaly that I found only
happened with more exposure (when the density goes above 1.6). Those made
with low exposure, the steps go proportionally.

Since the density of 1.6 is still much lower than the capability of graphic
arts film, I am now suspecting that Dektol 1:9 is way too much diluted. I
developed the film for 2 mins. That could be too short too. I will do more
test and post the result to the group if anyone is interested at all.

By the way, the Dektol 1:9, 2-min development was suggested by someone from
another newsgroup. Does anyone here use Arista graphic art film for enlarged
negative? Could you recommend a chemical, dilution, and time as a starting
point? Thanks in advance.
