Well, the fact that a lot of people "used to" use a process a hundred
years ago has little to do with whether it is mainstream or "alternate"
now: if only a few dozen photographers in the world are making wet plate
negatives, that seems to make it pretty alt. It's likely that within a
few years silver-gelatin will be an alternate process with only a tiny
minority of photographers working in anything but digital.---Carl
