Don asked me : (& w/good reasons)
>What is stained -- the image or the paper?
Primarily the white areas, near the borders. However, there often is
a small area of mottling in ANY portion of the paper.

>Are areas of the image a different color than the rest of the image,
with good clean white in
>highlight areas, or are the highlights stained? And when do the stains

>appear? Before exposure? Following exposure? Following washing?
>Following toning? Following fixing? Following drying?

That's a good question. My assumption is that staining is
noticeable in the final wash … which made my assumption to them not
being fixed properly.

>You didn't mention toning -- are you toning? If so, with what? Before
or
>after fixing?

No toning at all

>What are you fixing with?

Sod. Thiosulfate in a dilute solution. Hmmm, how dilute I ask.

>How are you drying?

Hair dryer … you know, electyical heat

>Do you float in both baths, or do you immerse in the salt and float on
the
>silver nitrate?

The salting bath is OFTEN (but not always) floated. Some students
brush it on. The Silver Nitrate solution is ALWAYS brushed on.

Thanks in advance to all the Alt. Crew
