My grandmother had bad teeth and gums and used to make a mouthwash out of
mercuric chloride. I watched her do it when I was a kid in the 40's. She
said it did wonders for her gingevitis. She always warned me not to drink
the stuff. It made quite and impression on me as it came in a purple
bottle and had a big skull and crossbones on it. The stuff was in pill
form. Heaven onIy knows why, as it seems that would encourage people to
take it internally. I never used it myself. I preferred to go down to the
local site where there were building houses and watch them blow in the
asbestos.
