I agree whole heartedly. To a lesser degree this applies to commercial
photography as well. I will give my professor, Howard Levant at RIT
credit, he said flat out, .."the number of students in this room (about
50) making a living in photography in 5 years will be less than 10.
(In the late 80s) RIT was graduating about 900 photographers per year,
add to that Art Center, Brooks, etc. There isn't a place for all of
you."

Of course he said it in our last semester as seniors, after the student
loans and second mortgages....
