Tween definitely, absolutely, positively helps---some of the time. It
can result in easier coating and better dmax in various handcoated
processes. It can also react badly with some papers, and the diluted
solution ages poorly and can grow mold which causes other problems. As
you note, the stuff is cheap so it's certainly worth having around, but
any time something goes wrong with your prints while you are using
Tween, the first thing you should do to fix the problem is eliminate the
stuff.---Carl
