I have seen many badly deteriorated platinum prints and I own several of
them. In theory, it should be possible to restore many of them, as
explained in the 3rd edition of my Pt book. On the other hand, I have only
seen *one* badly deteriorated carbon print (emulsion cracked and peeling
off), which I was able to acquire, and I also know of one in a public
collection in Australia. That's it!
This is after looking for them intensively all over the world for many
years. I even asked the Conservation and Photohist lists for help in
locating deteriorated carbon prints! I'm offering money for them!
