Waxed Paper Negatives - up or down?

While examing a newly made waxed paper neg, I wondered why in the world I would
put it face up (towards the glass) and print all the way through the paper base.
Wouldn't it make sense to put it face down (and reverse the image in photoshop)?
Anybody care to comment?
