Although I am seriously thinking about going back to tray processing of
large format negatives for alternative printing (in order to enhance
adjacency effect), rotary processing obviously offers some advantages.
However, one of the problems with rotary processing, be it Jobo or
home-made ABS tubes, is that the back of the film is in such tight contact
with the tube that it does not wet out. This problem is particulary
troublesome with PMK because you can actually get uneven staining on the
back of the film which can show up as printing density. The solution to
this problem has been to pre-wet the film, then, put it in the tube, or put
it in the tube, place in a water bath, then pull the film out momentarily.
Both procedures work but can be cumbersome in use.
Would anyone know if if there is some kind of any liner one could put in a
Jobo or home-made tube that would allow tranfer of the developing solutions
to the back of the film?
