Just a note that John Coffer is offering

"WET PLATE COLLODION PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE FIELD WORKSHOPS"

John is offering three solid days of hands-on training in the making of
AMBROTYPES, FERROTYPES (Tintypes), GLASS PLATE NEGATIVES and ALBUMEN
PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTS.
Dates for 1999 are: MAY 21,22,23 & AUG. 27,28,29 & OCT. 8,9,10.

Each workshop will be strictly limited to only four students. Tuition is
$300 - complete. No lab fee and Free Camping for the hardy.

For details and registration write to: John A. Coffer & Co, 1236
Dombroski Rd., Dundee, NY 14837-9443. John does not have a phone but
writes back very promptly.

NOTE: By popular demand there will also be an advanced wet plate workshop
July 30, 31 and a case Making Class AUG. 1. As always private tutoring is
available most of the year. Write John directly for pricing and more
details.

For those of you who do not know John, he is a bit of an eccentric. Lives
in a log cabin without heat, phone, running water, etc. However he is one
of the very best wet plate practioners in North America (Along with
Scully and Osterman - who brought back wetplate from the depths of God
knows where) John rode his horse and buggy down to Gettysburg for the
reenactment this year and anybody who knows anything about wetplate can
attest to his skill and patience.
