For scanning color negs, do the following:
- scan the neg as a positive; while you may use white and black point
settings, they should not perform any color cast correction
- scan it in RGB mode
- bring the image in PhotoShop
- go to the curves menu (command-M)
- go to the first color (command-1)
take the white pipette and click in the unexposed film area
this sets it to white for this color
- do the same thing for the other two colors
DON'T SET THE BORDER TO WHITE FOR THE THREE COLORS TOGETHER!!!
- invert the image and voilą, you have a workable image (that will still
need some correction but the main colorcast will be gone)
