You can break out of the About.com window at any time with a single click
- it is provided as a convenience so you can return to About.com -
actually very useful when reading the features which use a lot of off-site
references. At the top left it has two links - one says 'Back to the topic
site' and the other 'Turn off this top frame'. I think it is a very good
compromise enabling you to explore a few links on external sites and then
either jump back to where you were on About or go elsewhere. There are
things I don't like about About, but this is actually useful.

Incidentally there are several other areas of About.com related to
photography including an Amateur Photography and a Cameras site as well as
my photography site.

Incidentally there are 18 links to alt photography sites at the moment
(not counting any from the Directory of Photographers.) I'm always happy
to consider more if you think I've missed any really good ones.
