I have gums, cyanotypes, and VDB prints to mount so I bought Light
Impressions non-buffered mat boards to use. They only come in 4-ply.
Wanting to save a little bit of money, I called Light Impressions to
find out if I could use one of their Exeter 2-ply mats as the back mat.
The saleswoman checked with her tech person and he told her that I could
use the Exeter mat as the backing without any problems.
My concern is that he's never heard of Van Dyke Brown, so I'm concerned
about using the Exeter (which is a buffered board) as the backing. While
the backing isn't in contact with the surface of the print, is there any
possibility that the buffered material in the back will in some way
negate the non-buffered overmat? Obviously, I'm worried about the
prints' stability.
Help help help.
