You can buy an older 8x10 camera and appropriate lens for much less than
an upgrade on a Sinar or whatever (at least you can in the US, it may be
more difficult elsewhere). You can probably buy something like a brand
new Tachihara for less than the upgrade. You can also do fine processing
the 8x10 film in PMK pyro in trays (with gloves!) and this is a fine way
to get negs for platinum or other alternate printing processes as well
as silver. You don't need the expensive Jobo equipment, though I'm not
saying it isn't nice to have. Since you don't need an enlarger or
outside suppliers, you can keep the cost down. Just consider the most
efficient solution for the work you want to do.---Carl
