There are arguments both ways, but if you want to use "archival" inks, go with
the epsons. Because the HP's printhead is built into the ink cartridge, there
are no third-party (read empty) cartridges, because to make them would be to
infringe on patents in the head technology. Since you're limited to HP's
prefilled cartridges, refilling with "archival" inks will yield a mixture of
OEM and archival ink.
As for the print quality, you probably ought to decide for yourself. Both have
their advocates.
