Christina,

Film does have a limited shelf life, but three months should be no
problem for black and white films, provided you have it in normal
storage conditions. Film ages faster in high heat and humidity. Never
leave the film (before or after exposure) in a car in the sun, etc, etc.
If you are going to be somewhere hot and humid for months on end,
consider shipping the film home (to a friend or something) in batches.
"Professional" color transparency films are aged to a critical level and
then kept refridgerated to hold a specific speed point and color
balance. General use of b&w negative films doesn't require anything like
that critical a degree of control for results we'd consider consistent.
