No, I don't go into detail in the book on Penn's methods.
The "secret" (which isn't a secret at all in terms of how nice and free
with information the people at Penn's studio are) is the white,
plastic-like material that both bonds the paper to the metal support AND
provides the chemical-resistant barrier. I can't recall the name of the
material but I'll email photographer Andy Darlow who lives in N.Y. and is
tight with the Penn studio people.
If/when I hear what the stuff is, I'll let the list know or have Andy
post directly.
