After a fairly long absence, I'm heading back into the darkroom. I am
planning on looking into several incarnations of pyro developers as a
personal experiment. One thing has always confused me, yes one could say
that from time to time I maybe a little thick. When one reads a stained
pyro neg, we use the blue channel to read the density of silver only. We
can read the silver density and stain with no filter. When determining the
density range of the negative, in this case, for an alt process which
reading should one use, the silver density only or the total density
including the stain?
Thanks,
