Not to mention conceptual art, installation art, video art, site
specific-art, performance art, process art, & mixed media art. In fact it
was decreed in the 60s that whatever is done "in an art context" is *art.*
The issue, if any, is how *good* it is. On this we will disagree... Rules
or definitions are futile: each format, intention, taste, level of
sophistication, style, period, context, etc. has its own premises. One
person's exquisitely fine print is the next person's empty hackwork.

Nor is "sincere" a criterion. The most dreadful schlock in the known
universe is, often as not, desperately *sincere.* And in this age of
irony, the best art often has at least a lacing of irony. Some familiarity
with current photo/art premises & discourse, even to REJECT, is useful.
So you don't like Cindy Sherman; art publications (beyond Shutterbug)
are still full of concepts, vocabulary, examples.

And speaking of conceptual art, maybe Nick should show all four edge
methods together. Let the viewer choose (or not).

best,

Judy
