Greetings-

Cactus Cowperson asked about the blue in the highlights of
daguerreotypes....

It's solarization of the highlights and happens easily and frequently in
daguerreotypes.

It is, simply, what happens when the highlights "blow-out." As I understand
it, it can be controlled (i.e. prevented - if you should want to) with what
contrast control that's available through varying the times and proportions
in the fuming of the plate between the iodine and the bromine.

However, I find the blue quite beautiful and not at all undesirable.
