Re: Wide lenses for 12x20 @ 300mm

As far as I know the wide angle Dagor was not made in the 300mm size so for
a Dagor of this focal length you are of necessity talking about the regular
f/6.8 lens. Unfortunately the question of whether an indiviudal 300mm Dagor
will cover 12X20 can not be determined by whether it is a Goerz, Zeiss or
Schneider. Simply put, some do and some don't and this appers to be
determined primarily by cell spacing in the shutter. This is one area where
the older may be better than the new as there was more concern with big
coverage in the 20s and 30s than in the 40s, 50s and 60s. My 12" Dagor has
a serial number in the 3****** range and just covers 12X20 at f/64 when
focused at about 50'. At infinity it misses by a hair.

If you can bear the small aperture consider the Series V f/18 Protar. This
was available in 10 1/4" (about 270mm) and this would definitley cover
12X20.
