digital inkjet negatives
Hi Folks.
Shortly, I hope be entering the "domain" of digital negatives for non
silver.. I made my first foray into platinum and carbon printing under the
watchful eye of my mentor, a semi-retired Master Photographer, some
forty-odd years ago.
Earlier last week I was "planning" the construction of my contact printer
and, doing what my daughter used to term "bubble thinks", thought about
using a material with an emulsion on the one side, and it suddenly came to
me that there IS a material other than de-silvered photographic paper, or
paper to be waxed.
Past practical experience with Agfa's Copyproof Transparency Receiver
(diffusion transfer similar to Polaroid) in a graphic arts environment, it
occurred to me that this high contrast "film", with an emulsion on one side
that being insensitive to white light (although I always used it in red
safelight conditions) might be a good "base" on which to print out inkjet
negatives for contact printing.
I visited Agfa's web site and found that the material is still available (I
used to use 8 x 10 through 18 x 22 inch).
Since inkjet is basically a high contrast "output" relying on the dpi, I
now inquire to ask if any of you think this clear film with the thin
emulsion on the one side this might actually work for this purpose.
