Selling the Nu-Arc 26-1K:

Footprint 29-1/2 inches by 25-1/2 inches, (exposes area about 22-1/2 by 26
inches). This is the mercury vapor bulb, now superceded by another,
quicker halide. (For commercial shop, difference between 1 minute & 2
minute exposure matters.)

Integrator, vacuum frame & all that jazz, exposure times about 1 to 2
minutes for gum, 4 to 8 minutes for pt-pd/VDB. (That's translation:
exposure is set in *units*, from maybe 75 to 400-600.)

$145 -- including brand new bulb ($90 list) and old well-used but still
working bulb -- for whoever will come and pick the thing up. (Nu Jersey is
OK too.)

Story as follows:

I was happily addicted to this printer, but about 4 years ago some kind of
fuse burned out under the hood (I don't do electricity). I had a $75
service call. It took the man 3 minutes to fix, & he said he lowered a
setting so it wouldn't happen again. Summer before last it happened again.
Bummed, I beefed up & enlarged my UV table -- & after initial trauma
didn't miss the vacuum frame hardly at all.

THEN I started printing LARGER, BIG negs on BIG sheet of paper, very
cramped, desperate for space for BIG trays, register light, etc. And THERE
Sat THE NU-ARC GIANT ! A friend said he could fix the bad connection &
sell it on e-bay (where he says the same models go for $250 or so, plus
shipping I SUPPOSE). I was cleaning it up for that event when, to see if
still connected, pressed ON button. And yeah, it worked fine.

Called Nu Arc with ??????? Their theory, sounds as good as anything short
of the X files, was that after cleaning the glass under the bulb I hadn't
reinserted fully, so safety catch wasn't engaged. Then, as the trucks
rumbled by on Hudson St (and I have the cracked wall to prove it), the
glass crept (or bumped) back.

Having made my peace with the fluorescents, and desperate for space, I'm
still determined to sell it. BUT, this is not a thing I feel qualified to
pack. Am hoping someone will consider price attractive enough to arrive
with screw driver, take head off the stand and haul off in their van or
jeep or what do they call those big cars that roll over? Yes, I originally
paid in vicinity of $500 extra for the stand, so it's a free-standing unit
(total height, 5'3".) Stand has extra shelf built in, courtesy sainted
husband.

Replies, questions, whatever, OFFLIST please.

(I actually have a screw driver, but you'd need some packing material.
Styrofoam and/or an old quilt.)
