I'm with you, I actually *like* processing stacks of sheet film in the dark.
It's a nice chance to practice relaxed concentration.
On gloves--with some film/developer combination the very thin latex medical
style gloves have no traction at all so everything is too slippery to
manipulate. The answer is standard kitchen dishwashing gloves which seem to
have a perfect combination of flexibility and traction. My only problem with
them is it's very difficult to find them big enough to get over my hands.
