I bought several master cases of this film in a flood sale at a local
photo shop and have had it in deep freeze since '82. It still makes nice
slides when processed E-6. I have on and off "played" with this film in
various chemicals and got some very "interesting" results. I like the
C-41 cross but the base "stain" is too strong to allow normal printing
speed, (10 sec.).

It seems to be just this combination of film and chemistry. I have found
the Russel Neocolor chemicals to be free of objectional fish odor and
last a long time, even in opened containers, the price is very reasonable
also.

I don't think it is a contamination problem. I put plenty of water
between different soups. But one thing does come to mind though. The
Neocolor chemistry uses a BLIX, bleach/fix where E-6 chemistry uses
separate bleach and fixer. I will try this and mix the components
separately. Using a B&W developer like Eduardo suggests sounds
interesting also. I will have to experiment with developement times as I
really do not want to push the film to a higher index if I can help it.
I will let you all know what develops.
