The only sensible solution is to keep a printer just for b/w printing. The
good news is that the Epson 1160 is relatively cheap and is one one you
need for Cone stuff. You also need to get a kit to adapt the printer to
use large ink bottles rather than cartridges.

More good news is that it can also produce reasonable b/w prints - I did
some last month when my lab sent an order back short and the ink jet
prints were better than the lab prints.
