I use plastic clips I found in the closet department of a variety store.
They grip tight and leave no marks, and can hang onto the narrowest
margin without dropping the film. I'm not sure what their original
purpose was intended to be; they certainly don't seem strong enough to
hold up skirts or pants or anything like that. My local photo supply guy
once gave me some of his old rusty metal clamp thingies; I used those
once. They grip too tight and leave marks on the film, at least those
did.
