While what Larry says (see below) regarding Krylon may be effective, I have
seen the distinct banding that Jeffrey referred to earlier in this thead. I
have seen no banding whatsoever with the 1160 and other media - either with
FS or Color inks. This banding alone is reason enough not to use Pictorico,
at least until I get a workaround.
As for the Piezo ink, I didn't by any bottles because I had decided to test
with the cartridges that come with the system before committing my "first
born" (read that as outrageously expensive) to the CIS for the system. And
since those cartridges (which have somewhat less ink than the OEM carts) ran
out early on and since I wasn't very happy with the early results, I haven't
tested those inks on many media and can't speak to any comparisons.
Moreso, the FS inks dry very well and quickly on all media I tested,
including some glossy paper and the Epson Backlight film.
You may recall my recent problem with backlight film - well I may have
figured out what is happening. I'm waiting for the UV Blockage test results
before filling the list in - recall that Ed Stander offered to perform that
test and I have sent him a sample of the Epson Backlight film.
While I was typing this, I received a callback from Pictorico Tech Support
(Chip Pryor) - they can be reached on 1-800-899-5009. He indicated that the
film will show banding at resolutions below 740 +/-. He also said that they
don't know of ANY 3 PARTY INKS THAT WORK 100% WITH PICTORICO OHP FILM -
color or quad tone. That's a pretty all encompassing statement and I
therefore would like to here from anyone who is using this film.
