Katherine,

Many people DO like the soft, ephemeral look. Gum is well suited for this
purpose. What I was attempting to communicate (unsuccessfully, it would
appear) is that this is not the approach that best serves my goals.
However, saying "many people" is not the same as saying "everybody but me".
I'm sure that you and I are not the only printers that like a full range gum
print. For me, the range is expanded with the use of a black pigment layer.
That was my point all along, and I really don't see the need for this
discussion to go any further.

I don't know--- when someone makes a reference to "many people, but not
me" I tend to think they are talking about other people and not
themselves. My mistake.
