I had occasion this week to open a family album of photographs mounted
some 20 or more years ago. The first page had clear plastic "acid free"
corners. I don't remember if they were self stick or lick type, but every
single one of them had flaked off -- they littered the floor and the
photos were in free fall.
The other pages all had old fashioned black paper hinges, the lick and
stick kind. I don't know whether they were "acid free" or not, but every
one was in perfect condition, & no evidence of stain on the prints.
