I can't find any mention of a Sudek book that's "just appeared" in the
US so I also assume that the book Andre is referring to is the Pigment
Prints book Sandy mentioned, published in 1998; a catalogue that
accompanied an exhibition at the Sander-O'Reilly Galleries. You can find
this book for less than $50; look at Bookfinder, for example:
The new ones seem to be cheaper than the used ones ($75 for used vs $35
for new).
I have both books; the Farova monograph has some pigment prints that
aren't in the Pigment Prints book, (particularly some early ones
1918-1922); and the converse is also true: there are a number of images
in the Pigment Prints book that aren't in the Farova.
I didn't do an exhaustive analysis comparing the reproductions, but of
the two cases that I looked at where both books had a reproduction of
the same exact print, (identity apparent from margin smudges, tears at
the edge of the image, and the signature) the color casts of the prints
are distinctly different in the two books. Having never seen the
originals, I have no idea which is more correct.
