I do not have my notes with me but almost all modern Collodion folks use
less that 2% concentration of nitrocellulose. Usually between 1.5 and 2%.

The other issue is what "ratting" or viscosity are you using? 30cps and I
think 15 second are presently considered to thin.

If you are making nitrocellulose yourself the ratio of acids used during
making is important. In addition, if you do not neutralize home made
nitrocellulose very well it may cause the process to be relatively slow.

The last batch I made I was shooting at f22 for 3 seconds and developing for
15 seconds, for an ambrotype. It was about 80 degrees F out side.

Hope this helps. Contact me directly if you like.

..Hello all.
..I have got a few questions about wet collodion process.I used to use 5%
..collodion for the process, but it leaves marks that look like skin of
..snake.
..
..So I have changed to use from 5% to 2.5% collodion. It is much
..better than
..before, but it still does.
..
..If someone knows amazing formulas or ideas, please let me know!
..
..Thank you very much.
