There are a number of older Selenium formulas which do not contain
thiosulfate. I don't know of any specifficaly for other than
silver-gelatin, but they are not hard to find in older books.
Selenium, and Sulfide, tone silver halides as readily as they tone
metallic silver. This may also be true of salt prints. In addition, KRST
will deposit elemental Selenium on paper or film which is acid. This
coating can be light yellow in color and may account for the colors
described above.
The alternative Selenium toner formulas all contain sulfide so may not be
suitable for use on unfixed images.
