litho film for making unsharp masks for contact printing. >>

Sandy, I have made a couple of interpositives with unsharp masks although I
haven't had a chance to print it with any alt. process yet. I used the
very-low contrast version of LC-1 or LC-1B for the mask, then a
higher-contrast version (or developed longer) for the interpositive because
the original+mask has a much-lower contrast that the original alone.

Since the original+mask has low contrast, I didn't have to worry that the
shadow (on the interpos) might fall to the shoulder region. The lith film has
a long toe (so the curve is arching up) and so it gives high shadow contrast
and low highlight contrast. This is a desirable characteristic for many
situation. Together with the unsharp mask effect, the result is really nice.

When I did it, it was actually my first time doing unsharp mask, and I was
very impressed!
