If you have a 2000P and would like to make very nice B/W prints on
papers like Somerset Velvet Enhanced and Epson Premium Luster, try
using black only printing at 2880 and the Premium Glossy paper
setting. You should align the heads of your printer before doing
this.

Another option is to buy the excellent Epson 1280 and use a 3rd party
pigmented ink to make black only prints. MIS has an all pigment ink
called VM black and mediastreet.com has the Generations 3 (all
pigment) or Generations 4(dye/pigment mix).
