Sorry - my reply was narrow-minded - it didn't even address Pt-Pd chemistry,
which I am less knowledgable about.
I'd ask a chemistry prof for a professional opinion...although the one I
asked felt that Silver Nitrate solutions were fine...maybe textbook or
professional experience in handling gives one a different perspective for
relative levels of safety.
