In reading through last week's wide-ranging discussions I thought I saw
a fairly long post that described the process by which students,
probably MFA students, absorb almost by osmosis the accepted wisdom
about photography and what's acceptable and what's not acceptable. I
wanted to go back and re-read that post and now I can't find it, either
among the ones I saved or in the archives, at least in the threads that
seemed most likely: "MFA is it worth it," and "photographer in
training." Does this ring a bell with anyone and if so would they be so
kind as to point me in the right direction?

This was a post from a teacher, not a student, and in my recollection
the jist of the post was that the greatest value of an MFA program, or
maybe just of academic training in general, is this indoctrination in
the conventional wisdom. Thanks,
kt
