My version of this: swing arm lamp (square metal tubes, springs, center
elbow), remove wire, replace socket/shade assembly with 6 inch length of
something comfortable to grab, attach PVC tubing with nylon cable ties
along arms and extending a few inches past the "grab" on the end. Put
loops in the tubing at all joints, adjust springs and joints so it stays
where you put it. Best "tool" in my darkroom sink for the last 20+ years.
