Keeping the Pyro stain was a fairly common method used in display holography
(in order to control the noise level). One way to achieve this was to use
mild bleaching agents like ferric sulfate, e.g.:

Ferric sulfate ...........................30 g
Disodium EDTA .....................30 g
Sulfuric acid ..........................10 ml
Potassium bromide .................30 g
Water ...............................1000 ml
