It is not true that this simplifies things for "ANY" mail reader.
Certainly I'm in the minority here, but putting angle brackets around a
URL makes it more difficult for me, using telnet and an old style unix
mail program (elm, but also pine, mutt, and mail), to cut and paste it
into a browser.
