Re: fresson

Another account, in the third edition of "Exploring color photography,"
says that the Fresson family studio in France, which controls all Fresson
printing, now produces about 2000 prints a year, with 6hrs required to make
each print.
This book says that four color separations are made for each print from
the original chrome. A separate exposure is made from each, using a carbon
arc light source, "The paper has to be coated, exposed, developed and dried
four consecutive times, one for each of the separations."
The sawdust treatment follows, giving the print a soft pointalistic look.
It's said to be the most archival of all current commercial color processes.
