Sounds like a great trip Mark!
If time permits, try to run up the west side of the Sierras and into
Death Valley. Though I find it hard to photograph there, it's one of the
most amazingly tranquil places on the planet.
If you can arrange to be at Aguereberry Point at dawn (a dirt-road
accessible peak), you'll be treated to one of the most spectacular vistas
anywhere! Similarly, a dusk at Badwater (lowest elevation in this
hemisphere) is beautiful. Don't forget to holler at the cliffs for some
great echoes!
