I sometimes use ortho-lith film to make enlarged negatives. I guess the film
has a speed around that of a fiber based paper like Ektalure or around ASA
1. I develop it in diluted Dektol. i.e. Dektol stock 1: 10 parts water.
Sometimes, for more contrast 1:8. Yes, this does give you
continuous tone. You can develop by inspection under a red safe light.
This highly diluted developer does tend towards mottling. Judy told me to
use a soft brush and swirl it around on the print while it was in the tray
of developer. This works very well. It seems to me that we used to develop
the old Verichrome (sp?) orthochromatic film in Dektol.
