Thanks for this, Dave. I've been thinking, since I wrote to agree with
Judy about Adams vs White, that our overlap on this is smaller than I
made it sound, and that the two photographers are actually more alike
than they are different; the distinction between them in my mind is
pretty subtle. I certainly didn't mean to agree that Adams wasn't
creative, or that there isn't deep meaning, even metaphor, in his work.
I guess maybe I was just glad to see someone speak up for Minor White,
since it doesn't seem like he's had much notice for quite a while. I've
been watching for a Minor White revival for several years; it seems to
me we're overdue for it.
