Hi Christine,

I have been storing my work prints, contact sheets, finished silver
prints, alt processes, etc. for years in the archival boxes available
from Light Impressions. They are called Tru-Core boxes I think, and come
with a drop front, three inches deep in many different sizes. They are
very sturdy and I have some that are now over twenty years old that have
held up extremely well. The corners are reinforced with some kind of
metal and the boxes are stackable. The problem with storing prints in
paper boxes, I was told, is that those boxes are not archival and will
cause prints to deteriorate faster. The boxes from Light Impressions are
reasonably priced especially if you order in quantity. I had a large flat
file and did not like it for photographs. The drawers weren't very deep
and the prints seem to move around a lot. (Some sort of spirit lived in
there, I swear!). But I would love to find a smaller flat file, say 20 x
24 with deep drawers. I ended up moving my work from east coast to west
in the Light Impressions boxes, stacked in crates. no problem!

Good luck,

Janet Neuhauser
